Mr. Mortlock is dedicated to providing outstanding and affordable legal services in the fields of criminal defense and personal injury. Mr. Mortlock handles most criminal matters, including all infractions and misdemeanors and most felony matters. In addition, Mr. Mortlock handles personal injury cases, including auto accidents, premises liability, and bar injury cases. Mr. Mortlock has over 5 years of experience representing those individuals prosecuted by governmental agencies and those who have been injured by the negligence or wrongful acts of others.
Mr. Mortlock grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, graduating from Pike High School. Mr. Mortlock went on to attend Indiana University and was an active member in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. During his senior year, he was offered an internship with the Marion County Public Defender’s Office, where he developed a passion for fighting for for the rights of the accused. Mr. Mortlock graduated from Indiana University in 2001, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Affairs. After graduating college, Mr. Mortlock moved to San Diego and attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law. After his first year of law school, Mr. Mortlock was awarded the Trustee’s Scholarship. Mr. Mortlock was active in Mock Trial and interned for the San Diego City Attorney’s Office in the Family Justice Center. Mr. Mortlock graduated with his Juris Doctorate Law Degree in 2005 from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
Mr. Mortlock is an active member of the California State Bar and San Diego County Bar Association.
Mr. Mortlock has worked for the Public Defender, the City Attorney, and for a personal injury law firm. The experience Mr. Mortlock has gained working for both the prosecution and defense in both criminal and personal injury cases has provided him with a unique understanding of the law process. This unique understanding aids the assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of each case.
