A 2-year-old Utah boy was killed over the weekend during a family visit to Fisherman’s Wharf where a statue fell on him, according to police reports.
Officer Gordon Shyy says the boy was climbing a dolphin statue outside a business on the 200 block of Jefferson Street Friday morning when the heavy statue came unbalanced and fell over onto him. “The toddler’s sister attempted to help him when the statue began to fall,” Shyy says. However, the statue was too heavy.
Medical authorities identified the victim as Kayson Shelton, a resident of Draper, Utah. The boy, who was on vacation with his family, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he died from his injuries. Police cited the merchant for placing merchandise on the sidewalk impeding pedestrian traffic, Shyy says.
A website has been created to raise money for the family: http://www.kaysonshelton.com/donations/
If you would like to donate money to the family, you can donate using the link above or by contacting Wells Fargo and donating to the account under Kayson Shelton’s name. The family says that Kayson also loved blankets, so they are collecting donated blankets for the Project Night Night charity that gives care packages with the blankets to homeless children.

If you frequent a “big box store” or a construction site objects are stored or stacked often up to the ceiling. These objects can fall due to someone’s negligence or due to mechanical failure. Forklifts can malfunction, causing loaded pallets to fall. Items could fall from high shelves and hit unsuspecting patrons below. You deserve to receive compensation from the store or construction company if he have been injured by a falling object.
